Our Story
We are one of the rare tailors who cuts your pattern and looks after you through the consultation and fittings. We are also one of the few in the trade that cut for both men and women.
Our private, personalised service allows for continuity. Over time, we go beyond discussing cloths and cut to carefully curating your wardrobe for all occasions. This may range from the finer points of morning coats, tails and tuxedos for a special day. For others, it may be catering to the frequent globetrotting traveller.
Mary’s journey started at Central Saint Martins which opened a career at bespoke tailoring houses on Savile Row. First it was at Kilgour, French & Stanbury, then as Designer at Douglas Hayward, and finally Anderson & Sheppard.
After a decade in London, a stint as Head of Formalwear in fast-paced retail brand, she set off on a sabbatical travel in pursuit of provenance. She went to Tibet and Nepal for yak fibres, India and Laos for silks. She eventually returned to Hong Kong with a fresh view on artisanal values and responsible business, and jointly launched Tailor Five.
Kevin approached bespoke tailoring first as a customer before becoming a craftsman. He spent years trying different establishments before taking up pattern-cutting and turning the passion into his expertise.
The advantage of being able see things both from technical and clients’ perspectives is critical when advising on cloths and style, making the bespoke garments, and guiding customers along every step of the collaborative journey he knows so well.
We are committed to using natural fibres for our fabric selections. This extends to the horse hair canvas and linings that go inside the garments. Our respect for craftsmanship and sustainability means our suits have a soul in this era of disposable culture.
